**Artificial Intelligence Education: A New Era for Kids in Leading London School**
London’s premier school, the £26,000 per annum Alleyn’s School, is pushing boundaries of traditional education to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) lessons for children as young as four. This innovative venture, termed the “AiQ” course, is set to commence this September.
Headteacher, Jane Lunnon, sees this as an active response to the rapid growth and influence of AI in society. She emphasizes that the intention is not just to absorb technological change but to lay the foundation for students to establish their own philosophical insights.
The course's primary objective is to foster the emotional, ethical, moral, and cultural intelligence students would require to thrive in an AI enhanced world. The curriculum is designed with an eye on the skills that children will need in the future workplace. One of the remarkable aspects of the program is the focus on tech literacy, presenting students with a chance to explore AI within their academic framework.
Determined to take the lead on this revolutionary educational endeavor, the school has created an AiQ division and assigned a head to oversee the same. The program will delve into various broad areas like entrepreneurship, moral intelligence, critical thinking, tech confidence, creativity, collaboration and sustainable thinking.
The course not only emphasizes on AI knowledge but also includes aspects of digital awareness, teaching children the potential manipulations that could occur through ‘deepfakes'. Thus, advancing an informed future generation.
The course is viewed as crucial since a majority of parents feel their children aren't aware of the potential implications and risks of using AI technology.
