Furthermore, it emphasizes the urgent need for sustained core funding from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) for the functional and strategic expansion of the institute.
The review elucidates the Turing’s substantial value and influence under the spotlight of a rapidly shifting AI environment. It spells out recommendations to strengthen governance and operational effectiveness, while emphasizing the significant national and global challenges.
An investment of £100 million by the Chancellor will fuel the Turing's work in many areas such as health, defence, national security, and environment sustainability. This will ensure a fair digital society where AI and data science boost productivity and economic growth.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Kedar Pandya, Executive Director for EPSRC, admired the Turing’s performance and its contribution to the UK’s AI research and innovation ecosystem.
